Students Speaking Arabic in Class

The New Students who started in August & September this year, enjoyed speaking to one another in Arabic on Sunday (12/10/2014).  Students enjoy the new approach of Speak Arabic Today, whereby they have the opportunity to start speaking from the very first lesson.  This year I have prepared additional notes based on the core sentences.  More than a hundred core sentences have been covered thus far.  However students have the ability to generate well over two thousand sentences with the knowledge acquired so far.

We pray that Allah Almighty guide them towards success, In-Sha-Allah.

Arabic Classes at Masjidul Quds

Arabic Classes at Masjidul Quds -
In response to a query regarding the class times:
There are three Sunday morning sessions:
1.  Understand Al-Quran (from 09.00-09.50)
2.  Speak Arabic (from 10.00-11.00)
3.  Advanced Conversation (from 11.15 -12.15)

The first two are beginners courses.

The Understand Al-Quran Course started earlier this year.  New students can however still join - since regular revision is built into the course.

The Speak Arabic Course just started last Sunday (03/08/2014).  Students may still join this week - however due to limited space we'll probably be forced to close the registration for this class.

The Advanced Conversation Course is offered to students who have a reasonable understanding of the grammar and a sound vocabulary.  This class is currently busy with Book 2 of the Madinah University course.  New students can still join this class if they have done enough Arabic to fit in.

Speak Arabic Today - New Class 2014

Alhamdulilaah!

We had a wonderful response to the new Speak Arabic Today (SAT) class on Sunday morning.  More than 40 students have registered thus far, and few more have indicated that they'll join the class this coming Sunday (10/08/2014).

(Musalees in Gatesville Mosque)

The students have responded well to the lesson presented.  Everyone is very excited to learn to speak the Arabic language.  I have decided to add Grammar Notes to every lesson, so that the students can revise at home and get a better understanding of the structure of this wonderful language. The videos and CDs will become available from this week, In-Sha-Allah!

To those students who would still like to join, remember to email or SMS your name and contact details to me at idreeskamish@gmail.com / 0720191949.  There are however limited space available, so it has to be soon.  I would prefer it if nobody joins after this coming Sunday (10/08/14), because we'll be moving at a steady pace - and unless the student has a basic background knowledge of Arabic, it would be difficult to catch-up later.

The classes are being held at the Gatesville Mosque - in the Auditorium (upstairs).

Eid Mubarak!

We wish all family, colleagues, students and friends
a Blessed Eid (Mubarak)!

Speak Arabic in 2014

When will the Speak Arabic Course start?

The new Speak Arabic Today course will start on Sunday 3 August 2014 from 10 am to 11 am.  The course will be conducted at the Gatesville Mosque (upstairs - in the Auditorium) every Sunday for the next four months of the year (Aug.- Nov.).
The REGISTRATION and introduction will take place from 9.30 - 10 am.
COST:  R50 registration + R50 per month.
To PRE-REGISTER: Please send your full name and contact information (cell no. and email address) to idreeskamish@gmail.com / 0720191949.

Every week about 20-40 sentences will be covered.  These sentences will be given in English and Arabic.  The Arabic will be explained and drilled, so that the student will be able to speak using these sentences on a daily basis.  Additional words and explanations will also be given so that the student can start generating his/ her own sentences in Arabic right from the first week.  Ideally approximately 100 - 125 new sentences will be covered per month.  The aim is the cover at least 500 sample sentences for the four-month period, however with the additional vocabulary and grammatical explanations, the student should be able to generate at least 5 times more sentences by the end of 2014.  In addition to speaking, the student should be able to read, write and understand everything covered during the period.

Although the classes are only once a week, the student will be assisted with audio and video materials (which will be made available from time to time) to ensure regular (daily) drilling and revision takes place.  Weekly exercises will also be given to help ensure success.  The student will soon be able to communicate using these sentences, In-Sha-Allah.

Will this help to understand Al-Quran?

A large portion of the vocabulary will be found in the Quran.  The Grammar will be very similar to that of the Quran, so the student will be able to understand many ayaat from the Quran.  Reference to Quranic ayaat will be given on a regular basis.

What do you need to know to start the course?

It would be great if the student knows the Arabic Alphabet and can perhaps read a few words (even without any understanding).  Other than this no previous knowledge is needed.

Who will present the course?

The course will be presented by Ustaadh Idrees Kamish, who holds an MA degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies.  Mr Kamish is also a qualified educator and school principal with more than 30 years teaching experience.  Idrees Kamish has written several Arabic books and programmes and has taught Arabic for more than two decades.  Idrees is the principal of the Madrasah At-Tayyibah School of Arabic and Quran Studies.  Idrees also writes and maintains several blogs.
